# Regulation M-A: Format Rules and Legal Pokémon for VGC

> A complete guide to Regulation M-A on ChampionsMeta: the Paldea Regional Dex pool, banned Pokémon, Mega Evolution legality, and format active dates.

Regulation M-A is the active competitive format tracked by ChampionsMeta, running from **April 8 through June 17, 2026**. It draws from the Paldea Regional Dex — a curated pool spanning multiple generations of Pokémon — with specific bans and a key addition: Mega Evolutions are legal.

  **Mega Evolutions are legal in Regulation M-A.** This is a defining feature of the format and a major differentiator from standard Regulation series. You can equip any legal Mega Stone in the Team Builder and use Mega Evolution forms in tournament teams you submit.

## Legal Pokémon pool

The eligible Pokémon come from the **Paldea Regional Dex**, which includes Pokémon from all generations that are accessible in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. This is not a contiguous National Dex range — it's a specific curated list that spans Generations 1 through 9, plus Hisuian forms, all of which have a presence in Paldea.

The pool includes Pokémon such as Charizard, Dragonite, Tyranitar, Garchomp, Lucario, Incineroar, Dragapult, and a full roster of Paldean Pokémon like Meowscarada, Garganacl, and Kingambit.

<Warning>
  **The following Pokémon are banned from Regulation M-A and cannot be used:**

  * **Paradox Pokémon** — all Ancient (Scarlet) and Future (Violet) forms, including Roaring Moon, Iron Valiant, and all Indigo Disk Paradox Pokémon
  * **Treasures of Ruin** — Wo-Chien, Chien-Pao, Ting-Lu, Chi-Yu
  * **Box Legendaries** — Koraidon and Miraidon
  * **Pecharunt** (mythical)
  * Non-Paldean regional forms not represented in the Paldea Dex

  The Team Builder and team submission form will not allow banned Pokémon to be added to your team.

## Mega Evolutions

Regulation M-A includes a full roster of legal Mega Evolutions — both standard megas from the mainline games and additional Mega Evolutions introduced specifically for Pokemon Champions. Each requires its corresponding Mega Stone as the held item.

Mega Venusaur · Mega Charizard X · Mega Charizard Y · Mega Blastoise · Mega Beedrill · Mega Pidgeot · Mega Alakazam · Mega Slowbro · Mega Gengar · Mega Kangaskhan · Mega Gyarados · Mega Aerodactyl · Mega Ampharos · Mega Scizor · Mega Heracross · Mega Tyranitar · Mega Gardevoir · Mega Aggron · Mega Medicham · Mega Sharpedo · Mega Altaria · Mega Absol · Mega Lopunny · Mega Garchomp · Mega Lucario · Mega Gallade · and more.

**Pokemon Champions custom Mega Evolutions also legal in this format include:**

Mega Dragonite · Mega Greninja · Mega Chandelure · Mega Excadrill · Mega Chesnaught · Mega Delphox · Mega Hawlucha · Mega Glimmora · Mega Scovillain · and others.

The Team Builder includes all legal Mega Stones as selectable items, and the Meta Dashboard tracks Mega Evolution usage — mapped to the base Pokémon's usage entry.

    Regulation M-A runs from **April 8, 2026 through June 17, 2026**. All tournament data imported by ChampionsMeta during this period reflects this format. The meta dashboard will be updated if the active format changes after the season ends.

  <Accordion title="Can I use Terastallization in Regulation M-A?">
    Yes. Terastallization is legal alongside Mega Evolutions. The Meta Dashboard tracks Tera Type usage for each Pokémon in the "Top Tera Types" breakdown when team sheet data is available from Limitless TCG.

    Note that a Pokémon holding a Mega Stone will Mega Evolve rather than Terastallize, so in practice you choose one or the other on a given team member.

    Paradox Pokémon — the Ancient and Future forms introduced in Scarlet and Violet — are not part of the Paldea Regional Dex as defined for this format, and are explicitly banned to maintain the intended competitive balance of Regulation M-A. This includes all Paradox Pokémon from both the base games and the Indigo Disk DLC.

    Some Hisuian forms are legal if the base species is in the Paldea Regional Dex and the Hisuian form is accessible in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Wyrdeer, Kleavor, Basculegion, and Sneasler are examples of legal Hisuian Pokémon in this format. Regional forms not represented in the Paldea Dex are not eligible.

    The Team Builder on ChampionsMeta only surfaces legal Pokémon when you search or browse. Any Pokémon you can select and add to a team slot is confirmed legal for Regulation M-A. Banned Pokémon are excluded from all search results and cannot be submitted as part of a team.
